Images from Swee Lee Cafe in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

We stumbled across Swee Lee Cafe when we were walking around the Lot 10 mall in Kuala Lumpur and it quickly became a favorite spot. The cafe is located within a music shop filled with instruments and records. There are comfy chairs and couches to relax in and classic rock playing on the speakers. They offer a free drink with the purchase of a slice of cake, which we may have taken advantage of more than once. This was a great place to cool off from the heat.

The Batu Caves are located a few miles north of Kuala Lumpur. A large gold statue of the Hindu God sits at the base of the 272 colorful steps. The caves feature several Hindu temples and shrines. While making the trek up the steps be aware of the monkeys that won’t hesitate to grab any food, water bottles or anything of interest that’s not secure. The monkeys may look cute but they can be vicious and we find it best to avoid them. The Batu Caves are free to enter and an interesting sight to see.

Broom at Bukit Bintang was another cute spot we discovered. This cafe is located just around the corner of the Robertson Residences, where we were staying. This very photogenic cafe is located in an old shophouse and has a stylish ambience and tasty pastries.

George Town: If you know me, you know I love doors. When we travel to new locations I am always stopping to snap photos of interesting doors, gates and entryways. They come in so many shapes, size and colors, new and old, they always catch my eye. George Town, which is known for its colorful British colonial buildings and Chinese shophouses, had no shortage of eye catching doors, usually with equally impressive tile work as well. Here’s a handful of my favorites.
